NIGHT FOR NICARAGUA – BLINC organised a big Nicaraguan celebration of the 20th anniversary this year of the signing of the Friendship Agreement with Puerto Morazan. Nicaragua’s top female singer Katia Cardenal who has made over 20 albums performed her first ever UK gig for over an hour and half , accompanied by her daughter Nina on guitar and backing vocals. This was a unique opportunity to hear a singer who was part of the soundtrack to the revolution and who started her career both with her brother Salvador as “Dua Guardabaranco”, and later as a solo artist. The concert included a delicious latino meal and a special Nica rum cocktail made with Nicarauguan Flor de Cana rum. Special guests included the Executive Mayor of Puerto Morazan Senor Alcalde Emigdio Tellez and BLINC’s development worker Senora Gioconda Perez.
