Teams of BLINC volunteers worked this summer at Latitude, Glastonbury, Leeds and Reading festivals raising hundreds of pounds for our projects. Also in October Dave Vangasse ran the Kingston half marathon for BLINC after recovering from a serious shoulder operation. Well done to all our fundraisers.
Each year the Copa Sandino
tournament takes place every May and has raised over £16,000 for projects in Puerto Morazan.
This years’ funds from La Copa have helped refurbish the El Chavo nursery school.
La Copa Lucrecia Lindo
The women’s tournament, Lucrecia Lindo is named after a female doctor turned guerilla who was killed liberating Puerto Morazan from the National Guard in 1979. The funds raised from this tournament go towards women’s projects such as the womens’ shrimp-farming co-op and solidarity projects against Nicaragua’s ban on theraputic abortion.
Other fundriasing events include volunteering at festivals and sponsored events.
BLINC also depends upon generous donations from local people and orgainsiations. Find out how you can contribute.
